This position is located at the Queen Anne's County Visitors Center- Heritage Center-located in Chester, MD.
JOB SUMMARY This position acts as the first point of contact for customers who call or visit the Heritage Center and provides administrative support for Queen Anne's County Department of Economic & Tourism Development by serving as the Receptionist and performing clerical duties under direct supervision.
Duties include customer service, mail processing, basic data entry and word processing, filing, scanning, copying and social media support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides cordial, responsive and accurate customer service.
Greets the general public, provides customer service interacting with visiting tourists and the local community, provides geographical directions and information regarding tourist activities and sites within Queen Anne's County.
Be familiar with surrounding counties and other areas of the state's tourist activities and general information.
Responds to telephone calls and written requests providing tourist information and materials for mailings.
Makes sure the main lobby is kept neat and orderly, cleans doors & windows when needed.
Wipes down map throughout day and at end of day.
Keeps all restrooms stocked with paper and soap products.
Stocks and orders brochures.
Assists with brochure deliveries.
Checks museum exhibit Our Chesapeake Legacy Exhibit (lights, media), makes sure displayed items stay in place, Maintains the general cleanliness of room.
Sweeps and cleans cases when needed.
Performs entry level and routine tasks of limited complexity.
Follows specifications or instructions closely.
Knows practices and procedures in assigned area.
Works under direct supervision with limited independent judgment.
Performs routine data entry and word processing.
Processes mail.
Types, copies and files.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Administrative Assistant II High school diploma or GED required.
Two years related experience OR two years administrative/office technical training required.
Computer experience necessary.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must posses a Class C Maryland Motor vehicle operators License or equivalent or ability to obtain such license within 30 days employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Typically sits at a desk or computer table.
Occasionally walks, stands or stoops.
Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, pulls or otherwise moves objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Uses office equipment requiring average degree of dexterity.
Concentration to detail is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in an office-like setting in an environmentally controlled area.
Noise level is usually moderate.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
