1 Centreville, MD Centreville, MD Full-time Full-time $39,545 a year $39,545 a year 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago JOB SUMMARY Provides a range of animal control services and enforces County animal control regulations and State laws pertaining to animal control ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides cordial, responsive and accurate customer service to the citizens of the County Enforces County animal control regulations and State law pertaining to animal control.
As appropriate, educates public as to requirements of County and State laws relating to animal control.
Through routine patrol and in response to calls for service, captures and confines stray, diseased, unlicensed, injured and/or potentially dangerous animals.
Conducts investigations into complaints of cruelty, nuisance, animal bites and other incidents involving domestic and wild animals.
May provide care for animals impounded at Animal Control Center.
Releases impounded animals to owners.
Sells animal licenses.
Euthanizes animals in accordance with departmental procedures.
Performs others duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Animal Control Officer - Full Time - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), law enforcement training and/or attend Animal Control Officer Academy within 1 year.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Possession of a Class C Maryland Motor Vehicle Operators License (of the equivalent from another issuing state) or the ability to obtain such a license within thirty (30) days of employment to position.

The employee is exposed to animals who pose a potential risk to the employee through physical injury or infection.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and with firearms.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate but, on occasion, is loud.
GENERAL INFORMATION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write correspondence and reports documenting violations of County and State laws.
Ability to testify and answer questions on direct and cross examination in courts of the State of Maryland.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, general public and other County employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variable in standardized situations.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
